The Ohio Department of Transportation issued its weekly traffic advisory Friday for District 4, highlighting a major ramp closure beginning Monday that will affect Summit County drivers through late August.
Summit County Major Impact
Beginning Monday, June 23, the ramp from I-77 southbound to Waterloo Road will be closed through late August for pavement reconstruction. This closure is part of the ongoing Akron Beltway construction project.
The I-76/I-77/State Route 8 Akron Beltway reconstruction project continues toward its July completion date. The $160 million Central Interchange project has been ongoing since June 2021 and includes extensive pavement replacement and the addition of a southbound lane on State Route 8 between Carroll and Beacon streets.
State Route 8 bridge replacement work in Akron continues as crews launch the new bridge structure. The project includes various ramp closures at Glenwood Avenue and Perkins Street lasting from 14 days to two years, with completion expected in June 2028.
The I-77 widening project between Everett Road and State Route 21 in Bath and Richfield townships continues expanding the highway from four to six lanes. The $54.6 million project maintains traffic with occasional weekend ramp closures through August 2026.
Noise wall construction along I-77 between Waterloo Road and Lovers Lane in Akron is progressing. The $11.9 million project started in November and is scheduled for completion in September.
State Route 91 in Hudson has reopened after recent construction work.
Trumbull County Updates
The diverging diamond interchange project at State Routes 46 and 82 in Howland Township continues major construction. Crews are working on bridge structures with completion expected in summer 2026.
State Route 170 pavement work in New Middletown continues with drainage improvements. The project features pavement replacement between East Calla and Sycamore Drive, with completion expected by late fall.
Resurfacing work on Route 11 from State Route 82 to King Graves Road is underway as part of ongoing improvement projects.
State Route 305 at North Park Avenue has been converted to an all-way stop intersection.
Mahoning County Projects
Crews have completed culvert replacement work on State Route 14. The project wrapped up this week after ongoing maintenance work.
Interstate 680 resurfacing continues with occasional lane restrictions as part of ongoing pavement improvements.
State Route 170 in New Middletown experiences ongoing delays as crews continue pavement and drainage work.
Stark County Activity
The culvert replacement project on State Route 153 just east of Meese Road in Louisville has been completed as scheduled.
Various routes around Louisville continue to have lane restrictions for pavement marking installation and miscellaneous maintenance work.
Ashtabula County Completions
State Route 531 between State Route 193 and LaBounty Road remains open after completing erosion control work.
The roundabout at State Route 307 and State Route 534 is now fully operational.
Work on Route 84 between the western Ashtabula corporation limit to 48th Street and on Route 531 between Westshore Drive and eastern Ashtabula corporation limit continues.
Portage County Maintenance
Ongoing microsurfacing and chip sealing work continues on various county routes as part of seasonal maintenance projects.
Safety Reminder
ODOT District 4 is investing approximately $80 million in construction projects across Mahoning and Trumbull counties this construction season. Officials continue to emphasize work zone safety as crews work to complete projects before winter weather returns.
