Hudson police officers responded to several incidents between July 1-9, ranging from property crimes to traffic violations and a neighborhood dispute over trash collection.
Property Crimes
Hudson police are investigating a pattern of illegal dumping that has occurred four times in two months at a local business. On July 4, officers responded to another report involving a dark-colored Ford Bronco Sport that repeatedly dumps household items in a commercial dumpster.
The suspect follows a consistent pattern, pulling in from Ravenna Road, dumping items, then leaving eastbound on Ravenna Road to avoid other security cameras in the area. The vehicle is driven by a white female in her late 60s to early 70s with white or gray hair, approximately 5’5″ tall with a thin build. The vehicle has no front license plate, and sun glare prevents cameras from clearly capturing the rear plate.
The July 4 incident included empty gas cans, a metal shelf and other metal items, water softener pellets, an old hand saw and green shutters among many other household items. Previous dumping incidents also involved older household items, suggesting someone may be clearing out a home. Each illegal dumping incident has resulted in additional trash fees of $70 for the business. The case has been forwarded to the detective bureau for further investigation.
On July 2, vandals damaged the first hole green at Country Club of Hudson, causing approximately $1,000 in damage. The golf course superintendent reported someone used the flag pole to poke holes in the green and create divots. The damage occurred sometime after 9 p.m. on July 1, when golf activities ended for the day. Security cameras did not capture anyone trespassing after that time. No suspects have been identified.
Found Property
Police recovered a silver Manfrotto 3021 Pro tripod valued at $300 at Hudson Springs Park on Stow Road on July 6. A fisherman discovered the equipment near the livery area and turned it over to authorities. The tripod was photographed and placed into evidence.
Traffic Enforcement
On July 3, a woman was arrested on State Route 8 southbound on an outstanding warrant from Wadsworth Municipal Court. The arrest occurred during a property damage investigation involving debris in the roadway. Ohio State Highway Patrol transported the suspect from the scene.
A 76-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man was cited for driving under suspension and driving the wrong way on a one-way street on July 5. The man was stopped after failing to stop at a stop sign at Village Way and Library Street, then proceeding the wrong way on Village Way despite posted signs. He was driving to attend the Hudson Farmers Market, which violated his court-ordered limited driving privileges that restricted him to essential activities like medical appointments and grocery shopping on specific days. His vehicle was impounded and he was given a mandatory court appearance.
Neighborhood Disputes
Officers responded to Jesse Drive on July 9 after a resident confronted someone collecting items from trash cans. The incident involved a dispute over a broken chair that was being discarded. After speaking with both parties, officers determined the chair was indeed trash and allowed the collector to keep it. No charges were filed.
