DUI Arrest Made During Traffic Stop
Suspect Failed Multiple Sobriety Tests
Brecksville police arrested a woman for operating a vehicle while impaired following a traffic stop on July 6. The arrest occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Miller Road near the Independence Construction driveway.
Officers observed the vehicle weaving between lanes and driving on the sidewalk at Miller Road overpass. During the traffic stop, police detected signs of impairment including slurred speech and glassy eyes. The driver failed multiple standardized field sobriety tests and refused a breath test.
The suspect was transported to Brecksville Police Department and later to North Royalton Jail. She faces charges including OVI, OVI refusal, driving in marked lanes and driving on sidewalk, with a mandatory court appearance scheduled for July 9 at Garfield Heights Municipal Court.
Warrant Arrest During Traffic Stop
Outstanding Warrants Lead to Custody Transfer
A routine traffic stop for speeding led to an arrest on outstanding warrants July 11 on Barr Road. Officers clocked a vehicle traveling 45 mph in a posted 25 mph zone around 7:28 p.m.
During the stop, a license check revealed multiple active warrants for the driver, including cautions for being armed and dangerous. The driver’s license was also suspended for non-compliance. Bedford Heights Police took custody of the individual for outstanding warrants.
The driver was issued citations for speed and driving under suspension, with a mandatory court appearance scheduled.
Impaired Driver Crashes into Shed
Vehicle Towed After Property Damage Incident
Police responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a waste shed July 30 on Chaffee Court around 9:53 p.m. The caller reported the driver had fled the scene on foot.
Officers located significant damage to a wood-framed storage shed with the front left corner completely destroyed. An orange Cadillac XT4 SUV was found parked in the Brecksville West parking lot with front-end damage consistent with the crash.
The driver was arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired after failing field sobriety tests. She admitted to drinking “three glasses of wine” and had difficulty maintaining balance during the investigation. She was transported to North Royalton Jail and faces charges including OVI and failure to control.
Expired Registration Leads to OVI Arrest
Traffic Stop Results in Multiple Charges
A traffic stop for expired vehicle registration led to an OVI arrest July 31 on Oakes Road. Officers stopped the vehicle around 3:31 p.m. after discovering the registration had expired.
During the stop, police detected signs of impairment and found an open alcoholic beverage in the vehicle’s center console. The driver failed field sobriety tests and refused to provide a urine sample when requested.
The individual was issued citations for OVI and expired license plates, with a court date scheduled for Aug. 7.

Semi-Trailer Strikes Light Pole
$2,000 Damage Reported at Municipal Lot
A truck driver attempting to park his tractor-trailer struck a light pole in the Brecksville municipal parking lot July 2 around 5:35 a.m. The incident caused approximately $2,000 in damage to the light pole.
The driver was trying to park after being unable to find adequate parking at the Pilot truck stop in Richfield due to his allotted driving time running out. While turning to leave the municipal lot, the side of the trailer knocked over the light pole.
Photos of the damage were taken and a statement was filed with the driver.
Minor Vehicle Collision on State Route
City Service Vehicle Involved in Traffic Incident
Two vehicles were involved in a minor collision July 22 at the intersection of Brecksville Road and Chippewa Road around 3:38 p.m. A city service vehicle sustained a two-inch scratch on the driver’s side mirror.
The incident involved a city employee who was stationary in the left lane when contacted by another vehicle. No other damage was reported and photos were taken at the scene.

Identity Fraud Attempt Reported
Resident Receives Suspicious Loan Application Messages
A resident reported receiving suspicious communications regarding a fraudulent loan application July 31. The victim received multiple text messages, phone calls and emails starting July 29 concerning a loan application completed in their name.
The resident stated they did not submit any loan application and believed it was fraudulent. They filed a report with identity theft authorities and contacted local police as advised. No monetary loss was reported, and the resident placed alerts on credit cards and planned to contact banks.
