DNL Carpet Celebrates 50 Years in Downtown Ravenna

Family business receives proclamation from city for half-century milestone

DNL Carpet is celebrating 50 years in business in downtown Ravenna, a milestone the city recognized with a proclamation and special recognition.

Council Member Amy Michael noticed a 50th anniversary chalk sign outside the business and told council on October 6 that the achievement deserves community pride.

Mayor Frank Seman presented a proclamation to the Wagner family, who own DNL Carpet, during the recent Balloon Affair when they held a celebration party at their store.

The mayor also arranged for recognition on the digital sign at the courthouse lawn to help direct people to the business during the celebration.

Michael said she remembers her parents getting carpet from DNL, and she and her husband purchased carpet there when they first married, making her realize how long the business has been serving the community.

The longevity is particularly notable given challenges facing downtown retail businesses. DNL Carpet has maintained its presence through multiple economic cycles and changing retail landscapes.

Several council members expressed appreciation for long-standing businesses that remain committed to downtown Ravenna.

The 50th anniversary celebration occurred during Balloon Affair, one of the city’s largest annual events that draws thousands of visitors downtown.
