Domestic Violence Suspect Surrenders After Standoff in Seven Hills

Regional SWAT team assists in peaceful resolution near Broadview and Sprague roads

SEVEN HILLS — A domestic violence suspect surrendered peacefully after barricading himself inside an apartment on Oct. 30, prompting a shelter-in-place order for residents in parts of Seven Hills and Broadview Heights.

Seven Hills Police Department responded to the domestic violence call around 7:34 p.m. in the area of Broadview Road and East Sprague Road. When officers arrived, the suspect barricaded himself inside the apartment and refused to come out.

The regional SWAT team was called to assist with the situation. The suspect eventually surrendered without incident.

Authorities issued a shelter-in-place order just after 9:15 p.m., urging residents in the area to remain inside and stay away from windows due to the police situation. The shelter-in-place order was lifted just before 11 p.m.

The victim and all officers involved are safe. Police stated the incident appears to be isolated and there is no threat to the public.
