OVI Cases
A 58-year-old Garretsville woman was arrested on October 29 after her vehicle went off the roadway, striking a street sign and light pole near Prospect Street and Main Street. She told officers she was drunk and refused to perform field sobriety tests. She was arrested for OVI and provided a breath sample of 0.150 grams per 210 liters of breath at the station. She was released to her daughter.
A 58-year-old Ravenna man was arrested on October 29 after officers observed his vehicle traveling westbound on West Spruce Avenue with expired registration. During the traffic stop, the driver displayed watery, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, and officers detected the odor of alcohol. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI. He refused chemical testing at the station. He was also cited for failure to file annually and released to a sober driver.
Outstanding Warrants
A 28-year-old Cleveland man was taken into custody on October 30 at the Cuyahoga County Jail on a Ravenna police felony warrant. The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office contacted Ravenna police as the individual was about to be released. He was transported to Ravenna for processing before being taken to Portage County Jail.
A 38-year-old Atwater man was arrested on October 31 on a Ravenna police misdemeanor warrant. Officers met with Portage County Sheriff’s Office at a meeting location to take custody of the individual, who was transported to the justice center.
A 42-year-old Streetsboro man was arrested on October 31 after officers received a Flock notification about a vehicle with an attached warrant heading south on Chestnut Street. The individual had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant from another agency.
A 53-year-old Ravenna woman was arrested on November 2 on a misdemeanor warrant from another agency. Officers were dispatched for a medical emergency but determined it was instead a dispute between two females. A records check revealed the active warrant.
A 30-year-old Ravenna woman was arrested on November 3 on a Ravenna police misdemeanor warrant while in custody at Portage County Jail.
A 37-year-old Warren man turned himself in on November 3 on a Ravenna police felony warrant. The courthouse ordered him to report to Ravenna police for processing, where he was fingerprinted and served with his charges before being released.
A 44-year-old Ravenna woman was arrested on November 4 on a felony warrant from Kent Police Department. She was found to have the warrant while officers were taking another suspect into custody for a breaking and entering warrant.
Breaking and Entering
A 37-year-old Ravenna man and a 23-year-old Ravenna man were arrested on October 31 for breaking and entering at Lite Metals. One suspect confessed to his role in the incident during an interview with detectives. The other suspect was arrested after investigators obtained a probable cause warrant based on evidence and corroboration from a co-defendant.
The 23-year-old suspect was arrested again on November 4 at an apartment on State Route 59 where he was staying with his girlfriend. He faces multiple warrants from both Ravenna police and another agency related to the breaking and entering case.
Disorderly Conduct
A 38-year-old Ravenna man was arrested on November 1 after being warned for disorderly conduct. He returned to the area where officers and another individual were present, stated he was ready, took off his jacket and advanced toward the other person in a threatening manner.
A 47-year-old Ravenna man was arrested on November 3 after officers were dispatched for reports of a male yelling in the area. Upon arrival, officers determined he was intoxicated and creating a risk of harm.
Theft
A 45-year-old Ravenna woman was arrested on November 1 for theft at Sheetz. An employee reported observing the suspect take an item and leave without paying.
Assault
A 45-year-old Ravenna woman was arrested on November 2 after an argument with a victim. She struck the victim on the head with a cast iron pan lid, causing a small laceration on the side of his face. The incident occurred on Pratt Street.
Protection Order Violation
A 30-year-old Akron man was arrested on November 3 after officers observed his vehicle in the Circle K parking lot on North Chestnut Street. A records check showed an active protection order and active warrant for the vehicle owner. He was charged with violating a protection order and faces a felony warrant from another agency.
Criminal Trespass
A 55-year-old Ravenna man was arrested on November 4 at Sheetz. Officers observed him leaving the store and suspected he had been trespassed from the location. Store management confirmed he was not permitted there, and a search of the police database confirmed he had been previously trespassed.
