A 15-year-old Twinsburg Township resident was arrested and charged with murder and tampering with evidence following the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old Saturday afternoon in the Ravenna Road area.
Twinsburg Police responded around 1 p.m. to the area behind the Fitness Center near the 10800 block of Ravenna Road, according to an official media release issued Friday evening. The juvenile suspect was transported to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center where he will be held pending a hearing.
Scanner traffic obtained by NEOhio.News indicates officers initially responded to reports of individuals in a wooded area near the fitness center. The audio captures the emergency response as officers searched the area behind the practice soccer fields near Interstate 480.
Multiple law enforcement and emergency personnel responded to the scene. Officers utilized a K-9 unit and drone technology during the search of the wooded area. The victim was located near the soccer fields adjacent to the interstate retaining wall.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to transport the injured teen to the hospital. Twinsburg Fire Department personnel required access via specialized equipment due to the location’s terrain.
Twinsburg Police emphasized in their official statement that the investigation is ongoing and there is no danger to the public. Agencies assisting with the investigation include Twinsburg Fire Department, Valley Enforcement Group, Summit County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
