Solon Police Reports: Weapon Stops on 422, Jeep in a Ditch, and Child Left in Running SUV

Officers respond to weapons violations, domestic violence calls, impaired drivers, and a child left unattended in a running vehicle.

Solon police reports for the week of November 8–15, 2025, detail a series of incidents involving firearms in vehicles, multiple OVI arrests, domestic violence calls, and a child endangering case in a grocery store parking lot.

Weapons Offenses Tied to Traffic Stops

Several incidents in the latest Solon police reports involved loaded firearms found during traffic stops:

  • US 422 at SOM Center Road (11/8, late evening)
    An officer stopped a white Jeep for driving without headlights. After initially denying having a weapon, the driver later admitted there was a gun in the vehicle when the officer prepared to conduct a search. A loaded semi-automatic pistol was recovered.

    • Actions taken: The driver was cited for carrying a concealed weapon and warned for marijuana use while driving. The vehicle was released at the scene.
  • US 422 west near Harper Road (11/11, late evening)
    A Chevy Tahoe was observed straddling lanes and driving under the speed limit before entering the freeway. The driver showed signs of impairment and refused to complete field sobriety testing as well as a breath test at Solon Jail. Prior to towing the vehicle, officers located a loaded semi-automatic pistol.

    • Actions taken: The driver was charged with improper handling of a firearm, OVI, and a marked-lanes violation. His license was placed under administrative suspension.
  • Aurora Road and SOM Center Road (11/14, late evening)
    A black Ford Escape was stopped after a registration check showed the owner had a suspended license. A K-9 conducted an exterior sniff and alerted to contraband. A search led to the discovery of suspected psilocybin (“magic mushrooms”) and a loaded semi-automatic pistol.

    • Actions taken: The driver was charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and driving under suspension. The suspected drugs were sent to a lab for testing, with additional charges pending. The vehicle was towed.

Domestic Violence Calls Lead to Arrests

Two domestic incidents resulted in domestic violence charges:

  • Aurora Road apartment (11/9, evening)
    Officers responded to an apartment for a reported domestic dispute. A woman reported that her live-in boyfriend held her down during an argument. Officers determined he was the primary physical aggressor.

    • Actions taken: The man was arrested, taken to Solon Jail, and charged with domestic violence. No medical treatment was required.
  • North Burr Oak Drive area (11/12, evening)
    Police responded to an argument between a married couple. The dispute had become physical before officers arrived, and they identified the husband as the primary physical aggressor.

    • Actions taken: The husband was arrested and charged with domestic violence. The woman did not wish to press charges, and no medical treatment was needed.

OVIs Involving Sleeping Driver and Car in Ditch

Three separate Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence incidents were documented:

  • Residential cul-de-sac off SOM Center Road (11/14, early morning)
    After a citizen reported an erratic driver, officers found a black Jeep Wrangler stopped in the center of a cul-de-sac with the driver apparently asleep or passed out. The vehicle was running, in gear, with the driver’s foot on the brake. The driver admitted to drinking and using marijuana and showed poor performance on field sobriety tests before refusing a breath test.

    • Actions taken: The driver was charged with OVI, open container, no seatbelt, and failure to maintain reasonable control. The vehicle was towed, and an open bottle of tequila was recovered. Tire marks were found on a nearby lawn, but no property damage was reported.
  • Liberty Road near Pettibone Road (11/15)
    Officers responded after a Chevy SUV became stuck in a roadside ditch near a local bar and restaurant. The driver admitted to drinking, had an odor of alcohol, and showed signs of impairment during field sobriety testing. He was unable or unwilling to complete a valid breath test.

    • Actions taken: The driver was charged with OVI and reasonable control. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was towed.

Child Endangering at Aldi Parking Lot

  • Aldi parking lot on SOM Center Road (11/14, afternoon)
    Officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle left running with a baby inside. They located a black Mercedes with an unattended infant inside, who could be heard crying. Officers used a tool to unlock the car and checked on the child, calling an ambulance as a precaution (no treatment was needed). The driver exited the store and identified himself to officers.

    • Actions taken: The man was cited for endangering children. The child was unharmed.

Business Burglary at Oil Change Shop

  • Take 5 Oil Change on Aurora Road (reported 11/14, afternoon)
    Management reported the theft of tools and automotive supplies. Surveillance video from several days earlier showed a person wearing a medical mask entering the business late at night, walking through the interior, and taking tools, oil, filters, wiper blades, and other items valued at about $500.

    • Damage: None reported.
    • Status: The case remains under investigation by detectives.
