Gates Mills Police Reports Reflect Quiet Week in the Village

Gates Mills police reports from mid-November show a relatively quiet week in the village, with officers handling reassurance calls, minor traffic incidents, and welfare checks. The following incidents were reported.

Repeated Calls About Home Purchase – Som Center Road (11/17)

On November 17, a Som Center Road resident reported receiving three phone calls from different individuals asking if they could purchase her home. An officer responded to speak with the resident and provided advice on how to handle the unwanted calls and protect her privacy.

Delivery Driver Strikes Log – Riverview Road (11/18)

On November 18, a delivery driver working for a food service drove off the roadway in the 400 block of Riverview Road and struck a log near a ditch. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was removed from the area by a private tow company.

Doorbell Disturbance – Sugarbush (11/19)

On November 19 at about 3:00 a.m., a Sugarbush resident reported her doorbell ringing unexpectedly. Officers responded and checked the property and surrounding area. Nobody was located, and no suspicious activity was observed.

Concern for Pedestrian – Som Center and Dorchester (11/20)

On November 20, a caller reported seeing a female walking and talking to herself near Som Center Road and Dorchester around 5 p.m., expressing concern that she might need assistance. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the woman.

Motorist Assist at Post Office (11/20)

Also on November 20, a woman parked at the post office reported that her car battery was dead and requested assistance. An officer responded and helped by providing a jump start so she could leave safely.

Welfare Check Request – Hickory Lane (11/22)

On November 22, a Hickory Lane resident requested a welfare check on a neighbor after seeing a car door open in the driveway and a small fire burning unattended in the backyard. Officers investigated and found everything checked OK. The caller stated he would follow up directly with his neighbor.
