Major Shipping Carriers Announce Holiday Closure Dates for 2024

As the holiday season approaches, the United States Postal Service (USPS), United Parcel Service (UPS), and FedEx have released their schedules for service closures on major holidays. These adjustments are essential to ensure employees have time to celebrate while maintaining the efficiency and reliability of each network.

USPS Holiday Closures

The United States Postal Service will suspend operations on the following holidays:

  • Christmas Day (Wednesday, December 25, 2024): USPS locations will shut down, and services will not be available.
  • New Year’s Day (Wednesday, January 1, 2025): Post offices will remain closed with no mail deliveries.

USPS recommends planning ahead for mail and package delivery to avoid delays around these dates.

UPS Service Updates

  • New Year’s Day (Wednesday, January 1, 2025): Regular services will not be available, though UPS Express Critical® will operate.

UPS encourages customers to review their shipping deadlines for holiday packages to ensure on-time delivery.

FedEx Holiday Schedule

FedEx will also pause most operations on key holidays:

  • Christmas Day (Wednesday, December 25, 2024): Most services will remain closed, with the exception of FedEx Custom Critical®.
