Aurora’s gas aggregation program has changed, and residents who want to stay in the program now have to opt in.
The city’s previous gas aggregation contract recently expired. A new rate has been negotiated at $4.99 per 1,000 cubic feet of gas, locked in for one year. The supplier is IGS Energy, and there is no termination fee if a customer chooses to leave the program early.
Unlike the city’s electric aggregation program, which is automatic unless you opt out, the new gas aggregation rate is not automatic. Residents who want to participate must contact IGS Energy directly to enroll, especially if they ignored or missed the mailed enrollment letter.
The new rate is higher than the previous long‑term contract, reflecting changes in the natural gas market. City officials have said the new one‑year rate is still intended to give residents a measure of price stability and predictability compared with fluctuating individual offers.
Residents who are reviewing offers from different gas suppliers should carefully compare rates, terms, and any potential fees before making a decision.
