Hudson Father Charged After Restaurant Parking Lot Assault

A family dinner turned violent when a 59-year-old Hudson man was arrested for assaulting his adult son outside a Macedonia restaurant. Witnesses reported the pair had been arguing at the bar before moving outside, where Sergeant Matejka observed the father kick and strike his 35-year-old son. Despite the son’s reluctance to press charges, officers booked the father on domestic violence charges after witnessing the assault firsthand.

Intoxicated Ex-Boyfriend Charged With Breaking Into Former Girlfriend’s Home

Macedonia Police arrested a man for allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s recently purchased home. The victim called police after waking to strange noises and finding her former boyfriend inside. Officers discovered a ladder placed outside a bedroom window and dirt on the bedding below the entry point. Ring camera footage showed the suspect disabling outdoor security cameras before the break-in. The heavily intoxicated man faces multiple charges including burglary (F-4) and criminal damaging, with a protection order issued due to his history of domestic incidents.

Elyria Man Faces OVI Charges After Erratic Driving On State Route 8

Deante Robert Coats, 32, of Elyria faces multiple charges after Macedonia officers spotted his vehicle swerving and running a red light. During the traffic stop, Coats showed clear signs of impairment, including slurred speech and dilated pupils. When asked about his location, Coats incorrectly believed he was still in Elyria. Field sobriety tests confirmed officers’ suspicions, with Coats later registering a 0.195 BAC – nearly two and a half times the legal limit.

Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Admission From Springfield Resident

April 26, 2025 – SR 82 at N. Freeway Dr.

Daniel L. Billingsley, 34, of Springfield made a startling admission during a traffic stop when officers discovered suspicious powder in his vehicle. Initially claiming the substance was marijuana residue, Billingsley later confessed it was cocaine residue scraped from his pipe after officers read him his Miranda rights. The traffic stop originated from a domestic violence call in Sagamore Hills. Macedonia officers cited Billingsley for driving with multiple suspensions before transferring him to Sagamore Hills authorities.

Joint Police Effort Needed To Control Combative Subject At Casino

April 26, 2025 – MGM Casino, Northfield Rd.

Officers from Macedonia joined Northfield Village and Sagamore Hills police to restrain a combative 24-year-old at the MGM Casino. Kyle Christensen actively resisted being placed in a police vehicle, with Officer Lockwood reporting the man attempted to bite paramedics trying to assist. Police used specialized control techniques until medical personnel could secure Christensen in soft restraints for hospital transport.

Woman Claiming To Be Jesus Christ Found At Local Restaurant

April 26, 2025

A mental health crisis brought Macedonia officers to Chili’s restaurant after Flock cameras detected a vehicle belonging to a woman who had left her Garfield Heights home following a dispute with her husband. Officers located Sarah Stratton, 33, who told them she was upset because “her husband didn’t believe she was Jesus Christ.” After a compassionate conversation with police, Stratton voluntarily agreed to mental health evaluation and was transported to Marymount Hospital.

Vehicle Repossession Reveals Identity Theft Scheme

April 23, 2025

A Macedonia resident discovered he was the victim of identity fraud when his truck disappeared from his driveway. Laurence Strimple, 65, learned his 2015 Chevy 2500 HD had been repossessed as collateral for a credit card he never applied for or authorized. Strimple has filed a police report to help the credit card company’s fraud division investigate the unauthorized account.

Good Samaritan Turns In Found Prepaid Card

April 27, 2025

Martin Scott Shafer flagged down Officer Clapper to turn in a prepaid Visa card he discovered in his driveway. Despite attempts to locate the rightful owner, police were unable to identify who the card belongs to since it contains no identifying information. The card has been logged as found property and is being held at the Macedonia Police Station for the owner to claim.

Macedonia’s Fingerprint Technology Assists Neighboring Departments

April 22, 2025 – Northfield Rd., Walton Hills

Macedonia Police provided technical support to Walton Hills and Oakwood departments during a traffic stop involving multiple subjects whose identities were in question. Using Macedonia’s fingerprint scanner, officers were able to positively identify one male as Ricardo Sanchez, while the identities of other individuals could not be confirmed through the database.
