High-risk search warrant executed after months-long investigation

CONNEAUT — More than two dozen firearms and various narcotics were seized during a high-risk search warrant execution Thursday at a residence in Conneaut, according to Ashtabula police.

The operation took place at a home in the 300 block of Furnace Road in Conneaut, where Ashtabula Police Officers, Conneaut Police Officers, and members of the Ashtabula Regional SWAT Team executed the search warrant.

A total of 25 firearms as well as various narcotics were found inside the home, authorities reported.

The Conneaut Police Department served the high-risk search warrant after a months-long investigation, according to a release from the Ashtabula Police Department.

Ashtabula Police Department Chief Robert Stell said the APD was called in toward the end of the investigation to assist, because the investigation had revealed there could be weapons on the scene.

The multi-agency response highlights the collaborative approach law enforcement agencies take when dealing with potentially dangerous situations involving firearms and narcotics.

Officials have not yet released information about arrests or charges related to the seizure. The investigation remains ongoing.

The Ashtabula Police Department has been actively combating drug trafficking in the region. The agency encourages anyone with information about illegal narcotics or other criminal activity to contact their tip line at 440-992-7126.
